Food Trucks and Guilty Pleasures

25 Oct

Tonight for dinner, we headed to our favorite Tuesday night spot – a food truck meet up featuring the Seabirds truck. If you watch the Food Network, you may have seen the Seabirds truck on The Great Food Truck race a couple of months ago. This truck serves vegan, local, organic food and, most importantly, delicious food.

Their menu tonight included:

  • Carrot Ginger Soup
  • Tanaka Farm Beet & Apple Salad toasted pistachios, horseradish dijon
  • Sweet Potato Fries – dusted with cinnamon salt & served with dipping sauce
  • Beer Battered Avocado Tacos – a fried avocado wedge topped with creamy cilantro-jalapeño sauce & red cabbage slaw.
  • ‘Al Pastor’ Jack Tacos  grilled pineapple, cilantro, pasilla pepper salsa
  • Dirty Rice with Spicy Kale Tanaka Farm’s Kale, bell pepper, onions and celery, over organic brown rice with truck-made sausage crumbles

We shared the carrot ginger soup, beer battered avocado tacos and dirty rice with spicy kale.

They have different items on their menu every week, except for the avocado tacos, which are a staple on the menu. I have to say this was one of their best menus in weeks! I LOVED the dirty rice with spicy kale and I would say it is probably the second best thing I’ve ever had from their truck. It had just the right amount of spice. Plus it is healthy with organic brown rice, lots of veggies from a local farm and “sausage” made from garbanzo beans. The soup was also really good and perfect for a slightly chilly evening. This is food even carnivores would like. 😀

Now it’s time for me to work on my ankle stretches while indulging in one of my guilty pleasures – The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. 🙄

Do you have a guilty pleasure TV show that you can’t get enough of, but are embarrassed to admit you watch? The Real Housewives and The Kardashians are mine.

[…] This sandwich was so good that I wasn’t even disappointed that we didn’t make it out to our favorite Tuesday food truck meet-up. […]
